Welp, it would appear for the past week, regardless of what has been done...either battlegrounds, steam, or connecting to the server has proven to be a pain in the ass.  Below I will describe each, and seriously someone can help, can this is re-god damn-diculous.

Not for a period of time, I try and open BG 2, the screen goes black and then it closes out of the game.  Tried ten times in a row, same results each time.

Then there's steam....tried opening battlegrounds and despite how many times I've clicked it, wouldn't do anything.  Then the few times I did get into the game, it said it couldn't contact the master server, or no games were found under my filter settings or something to that liking.  Yet, had nothing filtered and it still gave me that message.

At last, when I am able to open BG 2, get a server list...I click to join AP, it does the usual DLing.  However, when I reach the sound file sib.mp3, it just...stalls so to speak.  Doesn't DL, and maybe on a special occasion it'll load three-six bars and then go back to zero bars and just sit there.

So, if anyone has any advice in regards to that, please post back...any help in appreciated.

Yeah I don't know why there's still that sib.mp3 in the server, it's never used and it only keeps people out of the server due to the download.

You could try deleting clientregistry.blob in your Steam directory, as well as Steam.dll and SteamUI.dll, then when you launch Steam it should redownload them.

If that doesn't help you could try reinstalling BG2, is that the only game that causes the problem?

However, I've tried countless times, deleting BG2 and reinstalling it, along with a system restore.

As far as I'm aware, that is the only game, everything else runs just fine.  But, will try deleting those three you mentioned and will see what happens from there.

Also, so BG2 run off of HL 2 Deathmatch or Deathmatch Source?

Hmm? HL2 Deathmatch I guess? What's Deathmatch Source?

Have you tried creating a local server? (Single Player)

Yargg, HL : 2 is what it runs off of, and it shows a Half Life Deathmatch Source on my list. ~Shrugs.~ Now I'm interested.  However, was able to make my own server along with join others, like RR, ESW and 3D.  But, stubborn as I am, went ahead and deleted steam all together, reinstalled both HL : 2  Deathmatch and BG, and got in the server. =/ Too much damn effort to play with you ass holes if I may say so.

I had a similar problem a while back and when I delete those files Hairy listed and it fixed itself.
